Why PowerOverPeople and who is it for?

 

This site is for progressives who are honest and up front about what they believe, as well as their critics.  The official political position of this site is that we need a large and powerful government, preferably on the federal level, to for people what we think needs to be done.  There are 3 premises behind and a number of corollaries involved here.

 

Premise 1:   People are basically lazy.   Most people won’t do what it takes to adequately meet their needs.  They won’t shop around for doctors, hospitals, insurance companies and policies.   In fact, most people won’t do squat until you take away their beer or cable TV.

 

Premise 2:  People are basically stupid.  Those who do make any effort don’t think, which is why George Bush got elected.  That is why they need us to think for them.

 

Premise 3:  Progressives were born to lead and hold power over people and most others need us to rule over them.  If this were not true, there would not be the call for national healthcare.  If most of the people could lead themselves, they would do a better job of fending for themselves.  Since we are smarter than they, we should lead them whether or not they want to follow.
